A word from Darrell: Looking ahead to 2022

Another one bites the dust! With the year-end imminent, I’ve been reflecting on the past twelve months and looking ahead (briefly) at the next twelve. Firstly, last Christmas seems like it was only last week! The demands for our time seem to be ever-increasing, and our availability through technology doesn’t always afford us the time out we need. We’ve completed several projects, including the spectacular Hundertwasser Art Centre, and invested in our business and team. Looking ahead to the next year, we’re well-positioned to get stuck into some exciting new projects in the pipeline. Read on to learn more about what we’ve done and what’s coming up.

This year we completed two multi-tenanted business centres at Marsden Point, finished and handed over the Hundertwasser Art Centre after 3 ½ years on-site. We have fitted out the new prototype 4 Square store at Marsden Point opening in December 2021 and partnered with MSD through our association with New Zealand Construction Alliance (NZCA) to complete the security upgrade of MSD offices in Kerikeri and Dargaville and several minor works projects. David Pook has headed our QS team and completed full project costings or early engagement feasibilities to the value of $50M!

We’ve invested heavily back into the business with safe, comfortable vehicles for our team to travel to and from site, together with the extension to our office. Marlene and I are incredibly proud of what the team has achieved.

Looking ahead, we will convert a chunk of those feasibility costings into projects, and some that are not even at that stage yet! So our forward workload looks excellent, and the most satisfying aspect of that is that we are working to our modus operandi of doing the projects we want, for the people we want to work with!

We are proud of the team and what we have achieved together, working five-day weeks. In saying that, we recognise that the pressure we’re all experiencing in today’s world requires a level of balance. Hopefully, the Christmas break will give the team the opportunity and time off to enjoy catching up with the friends, whanau, and people we’ve only been able to catch up with by computer or phone screen in much of 2021. Taking time out to reset the clock for the next twelve months of madness in the construction industry is vital, enjoying a slower pace and just having the people, activities, experiences, and things around you to help you relax will be the best prep for the next year you can have.

To all the clients we have partnered up with, including the ones we continued to partner with and the ones we are about to partner with, we thank you for trusting us and our project delivery experience to assist you in developing your businesses and investment portfolios. To all our suppliers, subcontractors, and business support team, we thank you for all your fantastic support and next-level service, which flows through to the experience our clients keep coming back for. To everyone that follows us on our social media platforms and helps keep our brand front and centre, thanks heaps for your continued support!

Please take the time to look around you and marvel at what you have all achieved, have a safe and relaxing break, don’t overlook the small stuff and Marlene and I can’t wait to work with you in 2022.
