The Public Housing Plan 2021-2024 sets out the Government’s public housing supply intentions for the next four years and provides information about the location and number of an additional 8,000 public and transitional housing places that will be delivered by June 2024 – 6,000 public housing places and 2,000 transitional housing places.

The industry and many clients are moving away from the limitations of traditional master-servant project relationships and lowest price tendering towards a more collaborative approach because of the many advantages a partnered approach to project procurement provides all partners.

Believe it or not, my role as National President Master Builders comes to a close at the end of August at the Master Builders AGM.
As everyone says, where did the last two years go, and how did they slip by so fast? It has been a real privilege to get around the country and meet the members that range from extremely large businesses to one employee. In our view, non-residential building in the Northland region seems to have bounced back post-COVID relatively well. Indicators are that non-residential sector activity will peak in the first quarter of 2021 and drop off from there. As always, many factors contribute, but COVID is the biggest in recent times.
I’m writing this article from my dining room on Day 10 of the Alert Level 4 lockdown — as we are adjusting to the new norm for the immediate future, and wondering what the long-term outlook will be for our businesses and the industry as a whole.
At the end of last year, we moved into our new Head Office at 16 Marsden Bay Drive, Marsden Point, on the mouth of the Whangarei harbour. As well as needing larger premises to accommodate our rapidly expanding operation, our new base also puts us at the heart of development in the region.
MD of Trigg Construction, Darrell became a Director of NZ Registered Master Builders Association (RMBA) in 2014 and was elected National President in 2018. As current President, he’s been part of some key strategic industry projects, including the development of the Government’s Construction Accord and Transformation Plan.
