Project Updates: April

It’s all go on-site in Whangarei at the Hundertwasser Arts Centre, as we look to an expected completion date in mid-quarter two, ready for opening to the public at the end of the year. We’ve recently handed over the Marsden Cove Business Centre, and things are in full swing at our Aubrey Business Centre and Mt Tiger Business Hub sites.

We’re Cracking On With Projects Here In Northland

Alongside our ongoing work at the Hundertwasser Arts Centre in Whangarei, the team at Trigg and all our subcontractors and suppliers are being kept seriously busy on these three local projects we have on the go right now.

Hundertwasser Update

Recent progress on site has been tremendous, thanks to the great support from suppliers and subcontractors since we came out of Level 4 Lockdown. The last of the parapet/balustrade walls to the roof have been poured. The round tower and the lift shaft in the centre are complete, and the spiral staircase that winds around the lift is being formed.

Concrete is Pouring at Marsden Four Square Site

Things are all-go at the Marsden Four Square site at Marsden Cove, where we’re constructing a 900m2, two-story commercial building for Marsden Maritime Holdings (MMH). Part of their Marina Precinct development, a new modern Four Square retail operation will occupy the ground floor, and the upper floor leased to mixed businesses.

8500 Sqm in Eight Months

We recently completed construction of two 4000sqm world-class bulk stores at Marsden Point. The project was designed and built in just 32 weeks – and the Trigg team were able to get the client in to start their fit-out three weeks ahead of schedule.

Trigg Construction Up for the Challenge

Marsden Point based commercial construction company Trigg is not a builder but rather a construction partner, says director Darrell Trigg.

“We aim to assist clients from the start of their project to the finish. Early contractor involvement and working with the team from day one speeds up the project, solves problems early and means we can all work together from the outset for the best end result.

Wall’s Go Up on Hundertwasser’s Iconic Arts Centre

Work on the Hundertwasser Art Centre with Wairau Māori Art Gallery is well underway, and it’s exciting to see the walls go up on one of New Zealand’s most challenging and complex commercial builds. Trigg Construction is the main contractor for the project, and MD Darrell Trigg says, “It’s an amazing thing to be part of as everything is bespoke, no two details are allowed to be the same, and every window in the building is a different shape and size, but I’m proud to say that the Trigg team are once again proving up to the challenge”.

Not a Straight Line in Sight

One of the most unusual and technically demanding buildings ever to be constructed in this country is taking shape, as whangarei’s hundertwasser art centre reaches the halfway stage of its two-year build.

The Eye Surgery: Whangarei

During construction, we experienced a rise in building construction costs, which threatened the viability of the entire project. Our team identified areas within the design and materials where significant reductions to the overall costing could be achieved.
